Constitution of The Central Texas Dairy Goat Association

(Revised on February 19, 2001)




By-Laws
Article I – Name
1. The association shall be known as the Central Texas Dairy Goat Association.
2. The registered address shall be that of the Corresponding Secretary.

Article II – Purposes
1. To promote fellowship and cooperation among dairy goat owners and breeders.
2. To foster, stimulate and study ideas, information and promotional practices, which will enhance public goodwill towards diary goats and their products.
3. To bring youth the understanding of dairy husbandry.

Article III – Membership
1. Annual Dues:
 A. Family membership (two votes) - $12.00 per year
 B. Single membership (one vote) - $10.00 per year
2. All membership applications shall be sent to the Corresponding Secretary along with appropriate dues, which will be forwarded to the Treasurer.
3. All memberships shall run for 12 months, beginning in January and ending in December. Dues will renewable in January at our CTDGA January meeting.
4. Renewal notices will be sent out with the CTDGA newsletter by the newsletter Editor prior to our CTDGA January meeting.
5. Any reputable individual or firm interested in dairy goats may become a member by applying and paying annual dues. (Members must be at least 16 years old in order to vote).
6. Any membership may be revoked by a 2/3 majority vote of the Board of Directors if said member or members are found in disagreement with the purposes of this association or using the association for their own personal gain.
7. Any voting member shall be eligible to vote on all association business once dues are paid with the exception of nominating and election of officers in which case he/she must be a member for a minimum of 45 days.

Article IV – Officers and Directors
1. The officers shall consist of:
 A. President – presides at all meetings, appoints and approves committees and cosigns all checks.
 B. 1st Vice President – acts as aid to President and performs the duties of the President in his/her absence or inability to serve; also serves as Chairman of Program Committee.
 C. 2nd Vice President – shall assume the duties of President in the absence of the President and 1st Vice President.
 D. Recording Secretary – shall keep the minutes of each meeting, and summit same to Newsletter Editor within a week after meeting.
 E. Corresponding Secretary – shall keep a record of all current members, answer all inquires promptly and forward pertinent information to the Board of Directors or pertinent Committees.
 F. Treasurer – shall have control of all moneys and keep records of accounts. All checks shall be cosigned by the President.
2. The Board of Directors shall consist of the officers and (3) three elected Directors. (The Board shall have the general direction of the association and shall have the power to transact ordinary business which requires action before the next scheduled meeting).
3. The term of office shall be one year; officers will take office at the end of January meeting.
4. Officers and Directors will be nominated and voted on at the January meeting. Notication of the upcoming election shall be mailed out (2) weeks before the January meeting in the January Goatzette. Officers will be named after votes are counted and before meeting adjourns. In case of a tie, members present will vote by paper ballot to break the tie.

Article V – Committees and Their Duties
1. The President, on a yearly basis, will appoint standing committee members after volunteers are asked for.
2. Show Committee – is to be chaired by Show Chairman and will consist of Show Secretaries, Ring Stewards and any Sub-Committees which will perform the following duties:
 A. To assume responsibility for enforcing the CTDGA policies and standards regarding the operation of the show.
 B. Assigning of classes, premium and schedules for all events.
 C. Selecting and hiring of all judges.
 D. Preparation of entry information and mailing of same.
 E. Advertising.  F. Cooperation and scheduling of Youth Activities.
 G. Solicitation of donations and selling of sponsorships.
 H. To tabulate and forward show results to dairy goat publications.
3. Program Committee Chaired by the 1st Vice President – Is to schedule educational, informative and promotional programs pertaining to dairy goats and their by-products.
4. Newsletter Committee Chaired by the Goatzette Editor– Is to gather information pertaining to dairy goats. To publish, edit and distribute the Goatzette Newsletter on a bimonthly basis.
5. Fund Raising Committee – Is to find ways to raise money for the club.
6. Other Committees will be formed on an as needed basis, and there will be Sub-committees formed to help the committees already standing, if they are needed.

Article VI – Proxy Voting
1. There shall be no proxy voting.

Article VII – Registration
1. This association does not maintain animal herd books nor does it offer certificates of registration. However, we do support and utilize the open and closed herd books of the American Dairy Goat Association (ADGA) and/or the closed herd books of the American Goat Society (AGS)

Articule VIII – Procedure
1. The rules contained in the current edition of Robert’s rules of Order (latest edition) shall govern the association in all cases to which they are applicable and in which they are not inconsistent with this Constitution and any special rules the association may adopt.
